CMS Update for October 8th through 14th. Wellllll, I guess the complaint regarding cooler weather was heard loud and clear. Fall has arrived and with that comes the personal development part of middle school students to pay attention to the weather. We do not have a no shorts policy, but..... we do encourage students to be weather aware and dress accordingly. HINT HINT!!!
Great performance by the 8th grade band students on Friday night. If you missed being able to attend, there are videos posted on our page. We hope they enjoyed being a part of the CHS band as much as we enjoyed watching them. If your student is in music (vocal or instrumental) encourage them to stick with it. There is significant brain research that supports music in alignment with academic success.
Conferences will be held on October 23rd and 24th. These conferences are not pre-scheduled as we encourage you to come and visit with any or all of the teachers. Your student will have a small job to complete at these conferences with you present and that is to meet with their advisory teacher to cover goals they have set for themselves, showing you their XELLO lessons, and notebook organization. If you are planning on meeting with all teachers please allow anywhere between 2 and 2 1/2 hours of time.
BOOK FAIR!!! During conferences we will be hosting a book fair to benefit our library. Please take time to see what new books and other fun items will be available. A few teachers will have a wish list posted as well if you would like to add to their classroom libraries.
Now for the weekly activities:
*Tuesday, October 8th- 7th grade math students will be taking Interim State math assessments (allows teachers to adjust their instruction based off the results). Practice as scheduled.
*Wednesday, October 9th- Late Start : SCMH has been working with students on mindfulness and will continue with these lessons in late start. Practices as scheduled
*Thursday, October 10th. ELA classes will be giving the Interim State assessments. FB and VB will be in Winfield. 7th grade FB @ 5:00, 8th grade FB at 6:30. 7A/8B VB at 5:00, 7B/8A at 6:00. location of games can be found on our website.
*Friday, October 11th- No School. Teacher Inservice Day
No weekend activities for CMS
*Monday, October 14th- 8th grade math students will be taking the Interim State math assessments. Practices as scheduled.
