Jonathan Elliott, Friend of KSWLA Award Winner

USD #375 SPANISH TEACHER JONATHAN ELLIOTT IS THE 2022 FRIEND OF KSWLA AWARD WINNER

(KANSAS WORLD LANGUAGE ASSOCIATION - September 2022)

The Kansas World Language Association would like to honor and recognize Jonathan Elliott as the 2022 Friend of KSWLA Award recipient.
The Friend of KSWLA Award recognizes a world language educator who, throughout their career, has been a dedicated and active member in the Kansas World Language Association. This award is intended to recognize KSWLA members whose active role in the organization has been reflected in the improvement of the organization. This years award winner is Jonathan Elliott who is a Spanish teacher at Circle High School USD #375. Jonathan spent three years as the Regional Representative for the KSWLA from 2019 to 2022. During this time, he proposed and helped pass the Regional Rep boundaries update based on data collected using the World Language Teacher Directory. Jonathan created the WL Teacher directory because he wanted to help connect WL teachers together, especially those in positions of a department of one. With help from the KSWLA, Jonathan maintains this database and the KSWLA has used the data to reach out to teachers in the different regions in Kansas, calculate the best locations to hold conferences and to find teachers interested in leadership positions in the KSWLA. Since 2000, Jonathan has served on the KSWLA hiring committee and has been instrumental in designing and gathering information to help the KSWLA find quality candidates for positions with the KSWLA. Marilee Marsal, current past president of the KSWLA had this to say, “Jonathan is a teacher with a big heart and many talents. He is eager to help out whenever he can and always goes above and beyond whatever is asked, even if that ask isn’t clearly defined. I have enjoyed serving on the board of KSWLA with Jonathan as Regional Rep and am grateful for all his knowledge and help.”
Jonathan Elliott is well deserving of this award and the KSWLA appreciates him donating his time and talents to the organization.

Congratulations, Mr. Elliott!
