THOR SCHOLARSHIP GENERAL INFO

Beginning in 1997, the Thor Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving CHS senior student who plans to continue his/her education at a two-year, four-year, or vocational/technical institution after graduation. 

This is a one-time, non-renewable award, which is being funded by concession stand receipts. Yearly availability and amount of the scholarships will be determined in the spring based on the concession stand receipts for the year. The Thor Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $500, in two $250 installments. The 2nd semester installment will be paid only if the student earns a 1st semester GPA of 2.00. Failure to do this will forfeit the remainder of the scholarship. 

Any CHS senior who has a GPA of 3.00-3.75 may apply. The receipt of this scholarship will have demonstrated (a) reliability, (b) good attendance habits, (c) a willingness to work hard and follow through, and (d) successful management of school, work and play. The recipient of this award will be chosen on their effort to become the best they can be. 

SELECTION:  A Scholarship Committee will be chosen to review all applications. The following criteria will be used to determine the recipient: 30% - Has displayed (a) reliability; (b) good attendance habits; (c) a willingness to work hard and follow through; and (d) successful management of school, work, and play. 25% - Financial Need 25% - Participation in extra-curricular activities 20% - Citizenship 

SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENT:  Circle High School will pay the scholarship directly to the school upon receipt of confirmation from the college or Vo-Tech school of the student’s enrollment. Should the student choose not to continue their education, the scholarship is forfeited and the monies returned to the scholarship fund at Circle High School. At the end of the first semester of college or Vo-Tech the student must have at 2.00 GPA or higher, otherwise the scholarship will be forfeited.
