Dan Persons Memorial Scholarship

Daniel Steven Persons, a 2008 Circle High School graduate, had successfully completed his freshman year at the University of Kansas School of Architecture when he was killed in a tragic motor vehicle accident on June 14, 2009.  
In an effort to keep Dan’s spirit alive and assist other students in their academic endeavors, his family and friends have established a memorial scholarship.  The scholarship will be awarded to a college bound graduate of Circle High School on the basis of academic performance, extra-curricular involvement, student essay, and teacher recommendations.  Dan’s family and friends will determine the recipient of the one-time $1500 award.

How to apply for the one time $1500 scholarship

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Senior Circle High School student

  • 3.4 GPA or higher

  • College bound

  • Involvement in at least 2 of the following activities:

  • BEST robotics

    4-H

    Skills USA

    Athletics

    band/music

    art/design

    Requirements:

  • Teacher recommendations - obtain two teachers recommendations.
  • Student essay - submit a typed essay which describes in 500 words or less your high school activities, extra-curricular involvement (ex, community, church, volunteer, work) and any honors or special awards you have received.  Indicate how this scholarship awards would help you to achieve your goals.  This is your opportunity to tell us about yourself. 
  • Provide the following general information on the title page to your essay (not to be included as part of the 500 words):
