Richard Nibarger Memorial Scholarship
GENERAL INFORMATION
Richard “Dick” Nibarger served as the Director of Community Relations for Circle USD #375 from 2010 to 2020. He was a T-Bird through and through, supporting and promoting the district with passion and pride. A lifelong sports participant and fan, Dick loved cheering on the Circle sports teams as well as the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. Prior to his employment at Circle, Dick was the sports radio voice for various teams, including the Emporia State Hornets. He also served as ESU’s Sports Information Director for many years. Dick passed away after an extended illness in 2020.
Beginning in 2021, the Richard Nibarger Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving CHS senior who plans to continue his/her education at a two-year, four-year, or vocational/technical institution after graduation.
This is a one-time, non-renewable, $500 scholarship which will be awarded in two $250 installments. The 2nd semester installment will be paid only if the student earns a 1st semester GPA of at least 2.5. Failure to do this will forfeit the remainder of the scholarship.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Cumulative High School GPA of 3.0 or higher
Participation in CHS Athletics (player, manager, photographer, videographer, etc . . .)
Proof of enrollment to college
Completed application and essay
Letter of recommendation from a teacher or coach
SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENT: The Nibarger family will pay the scholarship directly to the student upon receipt of confirmation from the college or Vo-Tech school of the student’s enrollment. Should the student choose not to continue their education, the scholarship is forfeited and the monies returned to the scholarship fund.
