Mode of Instruction Survey: The health and safety of our students, staff, and families is our most important goal as we move forward together. This survey is being used to collect information about your current comfort level in sending your child/children to school on September 8th, 2020. This information will allow us to plan effectively for your student. PLEASE COMPLETE BY JULY 30th @ 4:00 P.M. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScae2V0OftEIMWFDIUIpnbZk1R423c-pbcu50TAYafqpBnmhQ/viewform?usp=pp_url Please complete a separate form for each school-aged child in your family because your comfort level for one situation/setting might be different than another.
Hello 2020 graduates, I wanted to communicate with you about a few details as it pertains to graduation. I am looking forward to seeing all of you. There will be two separate groups and times for the graduates to receive their diploma. Last name A-K will be from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm and last name L-Z will be from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm. Please do not arrive prior to your scheduled time to avoid violating appropriate health protocols. Each graduate will be allowed two cars. One car will be for the graduate and immediate family. The additional car can be for extended family and friends. Please feel free to decorate your cars if you desire. Arrive with both cars together and enter the parking lot by the Dustrol Entrance on the far East side of the campus. There will be our SRO officers there to direct you. It is crucial that everyone remain in their cars to insure no violations of social distancing practices and for safety. Once the line begins our SRO officer will direct the line to the graduation stage. Once the two cars for each graduate arrive at the stage the graduate and immediate family may exit the vehicle. The graduate will proceed across the stage and then to the photo area. The extended family in the other vehicle will remain in the car with the windows down supporting their graduate. Once the photos are complete the graduate and their families will exit the property. It is recommended that all graduates wear their gown. Any diplomas that are not picked up during graduation will be available for pick up on Monday July 27th from 9am. - 3pm. Please come to the main office entrance and you will be able to retrieve your diploma. If this does not work for you please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org Sincerely, Matthew J. Carroll
Dear Circle Parents and Students, I am writing today to provide you a brief update on the progress towards beginning the new school year. As you know the Governor of Kansas has issued an executive order that will ask that schools not officially reopen until after Labor Day. We will of course follow all the state and local government guidelines as we move towards the start of the school year. In the meantime, we are working feverishly behind the scenes to develop contingency plans that will address student learning, health/safety of our students/staff, what the learning will look like and a myriad of other scenarios as well. We currently have a District Task Force working on these plans that is made up of parents, administrators, teachers and support staff to develop a broad plan. I have been pleased with the diligence and commitment of these people as they try to make a plan in the midst of this ever changing situation. Once the school district’s plan is developed each one of the buildings in our school community will drill down on what that looks like for our different environments. I want to assure you that once we are allowed to return to school we will have a plan in placethat will address the need for student learning and safety. As we get closer to the start of the school year we will communicate these plans to our high school parents/students. I believe it is very important to get the students back in school. The process and manner in which that is accomplished will be a challenge for us. We are working towards the goal of having our students back in our school buildings that are in compliance with local and state guidance as it pertains to the safety of all our school patrons. Finally, please be patient with us moving forward. I know if you are like me you like to plan ahead and know what is coming down the road. Unfortunately, if I have learned anything from this COVID experience is that “certains” are few and far between. Have faith that we are working hard to secure a plan and when we have one in place you will be communicated with thoroughly. Sincerely, Matthew J. Carroll

Dear CHS Parents and Guardians, Here are the updated plans for our Graduation Line Up Ceremony that will be held on July 26th. We understand that this ceremony is not what we all wanted to see happen for our graduating Seniors. However, current COVID infection rates and the guidance from local health departments have made an in-person ceremony impossible. Please read this document carefully so we can ensure everyone's safety. In close conversation with our current Senior Advisory Group, it was determined that this method of celebration was the best option moving forward. There will be two separate groups and times for the graduates to receive their diploma. Last name A-K will be from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm and last name of L-Z will be from 1:30 pm. - 3:30 pm. Please do not arrive prior to your scheduled time to avoid overlap of crowds. Each graduate will be allowed two vehicles in the line-up. We encourage our graduates to decorate their cars if they choose. Please make sure you line up with both of your cars at the same time to make sure all of your family makes it to the stage at the same time. When families arrive for their designated times our SRO officers will direct the graduates where to line up in front of the Northside of the auditorium. Please enter the far East entrance by Dustrol when you arrive. There will be people directing you when you arrive. It is very important that all people remain in their vehicles in the line-up. We do not want to violate current safety guidance from the County and local health experts. Once the time of each session begins you will be directed to drive through the circle drive (bus drop off spot) and proceed to the small parking lot in front of the Main Office. Once there an SRO officer will admit each graduate and their accompanying vehicle to drive to the flagpole area in front of the Main Office where the graduation stage will be set up. The graduate and parents/or guardians will exit the vehicle and the graduate will proceed to the stage where they will receive their diploma. Those individuals in the vehicle are welcome to roll the windows down and cheer for each grad as they receive their diploma. In order to maintain safety, only the graduate and immediate parents or guardians are allowed to exit the vehicle in front of the stage. Once each graduate receives their diploma they will exit the stage and move down the sidewalk for a picture in front of a backdrop. Graduates and parents/guardians will return to their vehicle and exit the campus.
In an effort to best plan our drive up graduation we need to know how many graduates are planning on attending. Please complete this short survey to help us assure graduation is planned to the best of our abilities under these circumstances. This event will be in a car line process which will not allow extended family to get out of the vehicle when the graduate walks the stage. Each graduate is allowed two vehicles, the event will be live-streamed so more friends and family can watch. We will release a much more detailed plan about the exact process later this week. GRADUATES OR PARENTS OF GRADUATES PLEASE COMPLETE THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Event Location: Circle High School Contact us: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org COPY AND PASTE THE ADDRESS BELOW TO YOUR BROWSER https://forms.gle/NQ54foRE6pYVhXr7A
To Circle Families and Students, I am unfortunately writing this letter to inform you that due to the elevated risk of COVID 19 in our community we are canceling our in-person graduation ceremony on July 26th at 1: 30 pm. This is a deeply saddening decision for our Administration and Senior Advisory Group to have to make. We came to this conclusion after taking advice from the local health departments and medical professionals. This was an extremely difficult decision to make, but we believe it is in the best interest of our Circle Community. The safety and security of our students and staff are paramount to us. We could not in good faith move forward with a large in-person gathering without putting people’s safety at risk. Our Senior Advisory Group and our Administration are currently working on another option that will be communicated to the community by the end of next week. We envision some form of “Graduate Car Line” that will allow a graduate and their families to drive up to a set stage and with guidance walk across the stage to receive a diploma. We will provide a much more detailed plan in the coming days. We will keep our date of July 26th for this new option. Sincerely, Matthew J. Carroll Tony Holguin John Coslett
Circle Students may return to our summer activities Tuesday July 14th as long as no symptoms are present within 72 hours of July 14th. Please monitor students for symptoms and fevers. This duration is due to the symptom incubation period of 14 days from June 30th.
Due to the possible indirect exposure to a person infected with COVID 19 with some of our student athletes, Circle High School is temporarily halting all voluntary workouts until further notice. The health and well being of our students are a top priority!
I wanted to write you a letter and update you on a few important topics. As you are certainly aware the last four months have been quite interesting and full of challenges. I want you to know we are working behind the scenes on numerous plans for the upcoming school year. I’m sure you are like me and would love to have school return to “normal” in the Fall. At this time, I don’t know what the final plan for August looks like. The Governor will release some guidelines for schools to follow on July 10th and our District has a team of people ready to meet shortly after that to begin implementing these guidelines in the best manner to suite the Circle community. I want to insure you that whatever form the upcoming school year takes our staff is committed to providing a quality education to your child. Here are a few updates on a few various topics: Graduation- At this time, we are moving forward with an in-person graduation ceremony on July 26 at 1:30 pm. in the Circle High Main Gym. As we have stated previously the in-person ceremony is contingent on the most recent health guidelines from the State and the Butler County Health Department. If we are directed to make changes to the in-person ceremony, we do have a backup graduation plan to fall back on that will have a virtual component. If a student does not have a graduation gown and hat they may contact Jostens and order one. The number for Jostens is 620-232-7464. A gown and hat are required to participate in graduation. In an effort to respect the health and well-being of our community we have determined that there will be a total of 6 guests per graduate. We will have instructions on how the tickets can be acquired within the next week. Graduation practice- We will hold a graduation practice for all those students participating on July 24 at 9 AM. in the Circle High Gym. This is only for students and staff. Enrollment- Online enrollment for students returning to Circle High begins on July 27. Enrollment for new students attending Circle High for the first time begins on August 3 in the Main Office of the high school. Once again if the current Covid infection rates do not improve there could be some adjustments to the in person enrollment plan. I hope this provided a little clarity on a few important subjects. At any time you have a question don’t hesitate to contact me at email@example.com.

Students: We are in the midst of some very trying times right now. You may have experienced some joy at first and maybe feeling some anxiety due to not knowing what lies ahead. We would like for you to make the best out of the situation. Spend time with your loved ones. Try something new, possibilities are endless. We are going to attempt to answer some questions you may have. Moving forward, this will be an immense challenge for both you and your teachers. We are confident that working together will thrive in 375. Your education will continue. It may look a little different than what you are used to. Starting March 30th it will be your responsibility to start checking your school email on a daily basis. Your teachers will be working next week on delivering your education primarily through Google Classroom and other virtual learning tools. You will be able to continue to work toward completing your high school graduation requirements through the end of the current school year. These requirements are not optional. This work will begin on March 30th. All sports and activities are canceled through the end of the year. There is no student access to the building at this time. If access opens up we will be in contact with you. As we move forward we will make arrangements for you to pick up any personal items left in the building. We will communicate via email with instructions on how to proceed. If you have time-sensitive materials like medication please email Mr. Carroll and he will make arrangements for you to pick them up. At this time the graduation ceremony is canceled. I know this is an extreme disappointment for you and your family. We are working on some creative practices for you to be able to potentially meet with us individually to be recognized for your awesome accomplishments. As the year progresses we will be in contact pertaining to those plans. Please continue to check your email, school twitter, classroom websites and other digital platforms moving forward for important information daily. Meal Plan: We are currently working to provide meals to all students in USD 375 with pick up locations at Oil Hill, Towanda Primary, Circle Middle, and Greenwich Elementary. Meals will begin on Wednesday, March 25 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Meals will be available Monday through Friday. KSHSAA —The Kansas State High School Activities Association serves students by providing leadership for the administration of education based interscholastic activities— COVID-19 Update March 18, 2020 The KSHSAA is committed to the safety of our student-participants and the health of our school communities. Accordingly, in response to Governor Kelly’s Executive Order regarding the closure and cessation of in-person instruction in all Kansas schools through May 29, 2020, the KSHSAA is cancelling all spring championships, competitions, and festivals for the remainder of this school year. The KSHSAA recognizes the value of school activities for all students and school communities, but the current situation does not permit the opportunity for school activities to take place in a manner that is consistent with the very reason school activities exist. As a commitment to the health of Kansas students and communities, the best decision and only reasonable response is to cancel the regular season and post-season spring activity season. We all have an important responsibility to minimize community transmission as we embrace suggested precautions regarding COVID-19. As educators, the primary focus for our students and families is the health and well-being of each student. This action by the KSHSAA supports that effort across Kansas. The KSHSAA strongly discourages non-school activity participation at this time in an effort to mitigate the community transmission of the coronavirus. All CDC, KDHE and KSDE recommendations for preventing disease transmission should be followed at this time for any non-school activity in which a student participates. The following links provide access to those resources: CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/ KDHE: http://www.kdheks.gov/

March 16, 2020 - Coronavirus Update Late yesterday afternoon, KSDE in coordination with the Governor’s office, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), and many other educational agencies in the state provided new recommendations for Kansas schools. This includes a strong recommendation that all schools who are not on spring break close this week, March 16th-20th. Therefore, there is no immediate impact on our district at this time due to our regularly scheduled Spring Break. Obviously, we will adhere to the recommendations by having NO activity in our buildings or off campus this week other than essential personnel only. Essential personnel in this situation are defined as custodial and operations staff who will focus on deep cleaning and sanitizing in our schools. At this time, there are no known cases of the Coronavirus in our schools, but aggressive social distancing measures, good hygiene practices like handwashing, and deep cleaning of facilities are essential at this critical time in dealing with this unprecedented situation. KSHSAA has suspended spring activities including practices through March 22nd. There is a possibility schools will be suspended beyond March 20th. We will continue to closely monitor all developments related to the Coronavirus during this week by participating in daily conference calls in conjunction of with several organizations that include The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE). Our hope is to know more about long-term plans by the middle of this week and inform you of any new information. We will definitely adhere to the collective recommendations of KDHE, KSDE, the Butler County Health Department, and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). These organizations are critical resources for USD 375 to make decisions moving forward. For up-to-date information, visit the KDHE Coronavirus Resource Center or the CDC website. As stated, we will keep you updated as we receive new information and make important decisions about future school and events. Thank you in advance for your support, patience and cooperation as we navigate this situation. As always, safety is our highest priority for our students, staff and communities. Sincerely, Don Potter unsubscribe Swiftreach Networks, Inc.
Announcement March 13, 2020 Given the escalating concerns regarding COVID-19 and the closures of schools and school host sites, all Regional Music Festivals scheduled for March 28 and April 4 have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The KSHSAA deeply regrets these lost opportunities, but it is the best decision for the safety of our students, directors, adjudicators and spectators.

Circle High School Families, Your high school student will be showcasing their schoolwork and discussing educational goals with you through a new format called Student-Led Conferences. During Parent-Teacher Conferences, students will lead the discussion with you about their schoolwork, while teachers will help direct conversation and answer questions you may have. We have several goals for holding conferences using this format: For parents – we hope that you will get to see rather than being told about your child’s progress. For students – we hope students will take more responsibility for their learning and plans. For all – we want to maximize our time together, create ways to partner with one another to support student success. Your student’s Seminar/Advisory teacher will be contacting you to schedule a fifteen-minute Student-Led Conference. Before and or after your fifteen-minute conference, you will have the opportunity to visit with any other teachers similar to the traditional conferences you may have experienced in the past.

What Remains by Max Bush is the heartwarming story of a senior citizen and a senior in high school connecting through art and realizing their lives are almost parallel. Maggie, the high schooler, is trying to decide between her boyfriend or her art, and Cliona, the elderly person moving out of her house with Maggie's help, once faced a similar decision herself. The play, which spans around two months in Maggie and Cliona's lives, chronicles the drama and realism of trying to balance passion, life, relationships, and expectations. Running two nights only, Thursday, January 30th and Satuday, February 1st in the CHS Auditorium you won't want to miss this play about what it means to face a big decision, to potentially move on from a chapter in your life, and when you do... What Remains? The play is rated PG. The show will run around 90 minutes with a 10 minute intermission.

Over the next month we are rolling out a new transportation service to help ensure the safety of your students while riding USD#375 buses. By students scanning a small RFID sticker, Transportant will allow us to roster at all times the students, as they get on/off the bus. The bus location and video feed will also be available in realtime to help transportation personnel ensure safe travels. After our initial testing, we plan to roll out a parent opportunity to track when your student boards or exits the bus and to allow you to digitally see the bus approaching your house. Thank you for your help and patience as we work to improve the safety of our students.
