McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act provides support and assistance to families of school-aged and pre-school aged children who do not have a regular night time residence of their own.
Families might be:

share housing with friends or relatives
-
live in motels, hotels, shelters, camp grounds, parks

living in a car, abandoned building, public place
Homeless children and youth have the right to:

immediate enrollment in school, even they do not have required documents such as proof of residency or immunization records.

the right to remain in the school of origin (the school attended when permanently housed) or enroll in any public school that students living in the same attendance area are eligible to attend, even if the student moves to a different location.

transportation assistance to and from the school of origin.

access to support services.
