Immunization Requirements for the 2025-2026 School Year

K.A.R. 28-1-20 defines immunizations required for any individual who attends school or a childcare program operated by a school. Below are the requirements for the indicated school year.

Please carefully review the requirements. The usual number of doses required are listed; however, there are exceptional circumstances that could alter the number of doses a child needs. If you have questions about your child’s immunization status, contact your child’s primary care provider or local health department.

Proof of receiving the required immunizations must be provided to the school prior to the student attending the first day of school.

Early Childhood Program Operated by a School

Ages 4 years & Under

Meningococcal (MenACWY) Vaccine Notes:

Two doses are required for 11th and 12th grade students.
1st dose due at entry to 7th grade at 11–12 years of age.
2nd dose due at entry to 11th grade at 16–18 years of age.
If 1st dose given at age 16 or older, only one dose is required.

Notes

*	Varicella vaccine is not required if child has had disease and this is documented with a physician’s signature.
**	Total doses may vary depending on vaccine type and child’s age at first dose.
***	Three doses are acceptable if the 3rd dose was given after age 4 and at least six months after the second dose.
~	All students in grades 7–12 must have one dose of Tdap regardless of the time since the last dose of DTaP or Td.

Transportation

Thunderbird Transportation provides safe and reliable transportation to help students get to school ready to learn, to activities ready to compete, and to field trips ready to explore and learn beyond the classroom.

Bus Route Transportation

In district students who live two or more miles from their base school are eligible for bus transportation to and from school.

To receive your route assignment:

Make sure you fully complete the Transportation Form during PowerSchool enrollment.
Your assigned driver will contact you directly by phone.

If you haven’t heard from the Transportation Department one week before school starts, please call 316-541-2631 for assistance.

Transportation Notifications

In the event of an emergency or a route update affecting all riders on a bus route, the Transportation Department will communicate with families through ParentSquare. For individual concerns or updates, communication may come directly from the route driver or through ParentSquare, depending on the situation.

Make sure your ParentSquare is connected and you're receiving notifications.

The transportation department operates before and after school shuttles to help get Thunderbirds where they need to go.
