Circle Public Schools is pleased to announce Ashley Blain as the new principal of Circle Oil Hill Elementary for the 2026–2027 school year. Blain brings a strong background in teaching and school leadership, along with a passion for building relationships and creating positive learning environments for students and staff.

Blain began a career in education in 2010, teaching sophomore and senior English in northern Idaho for two years before moving to Kansas in 2012. Since then, she has taught a variety of English courses, served as a driver’s education instructor since 2018, and been an elementary school principal.

Her decision to pursue school leadership grew from a desire to be part of improving the education system and supporting both students and educators. “A number of years ago, I decided I was not allowed to complain about the education system unless I was willing to do the work required to make it better,” Blain said. “That mindset led me to opportunities to invest and serve, and ultimately to school leadership.”

While she values the impact of the classroom, Blain is excited about the opportunity to support even more students and staff through leadership. “I have loved my years in the classroom with students, but leadership allows the opportunity to multiply that impact,” she said. “As an elementary principal, I get to help shape students’ very first experiences in public school. I want every student at Oil Hill to know they belong and have a team of advocates supporting them.”

Blain shared that she is especially looking forward to the collaborative spirit she has already seen within Circle Public Schools. “The dedication of the Circle staff stands out every time I interact with the Circle family,” she said. “I’m excited to work alongside educators who are committed to making students’ educational experiences positive and powerful.”

In her first year, Blain plans to focus on building strong relationships with students and staff, listening carefully to understand the school’s traditions and strengths, and maintaining strong systems that support safety, stability, and daily operations.

Superintendent Don Potter shared his enthusiasm for the district’s newest leader. “Ashley brings a thoughtful approach to leadership and a clear commitment to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families. We are excited to welcome her to Circle and to the Oil Hill Elementary community.”
