This course covers the time period from early world history to the Cold War. All areas of the world are included in this study. First semester topics include an introduction to world cultures and religions, the ancient civilizations, the Renaissance and Reformation, the exploration and conquest of Asia and the Americas, the absolute monarchs of Europe, and the American and French Revolutions. Second semester topics include: the Industrial Revolution, Imperialism, World War I, the Russian Revolution, India's independence movement, World War I, and an overview of the Cold War. This course will involve classroom discussion, multimedia presentations, group and individual activities.
