Spanish I students will learn basic communication skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Cultural insights into the Hispanic world will be explored. Listening skills are a must for student success. Strong memorization and imaginative skills are required. Students will learn through lectures, films, games, puzzles, hands-on activities, group activities, dialogue, and presentations. An emphasis will be placed on speaking Spanish in the classroom and students will be encouraged to speak Spanish outside the classroom when given the opportunity. Homework will be assigned regularly and both oral and written tests will be used to evaluate students' progress.
