Honors English I, or Freshman Honors English, challenges students and helps prepare them to succeed in future English Language Arts courses. This challenging course can also prepare college-bound students to tackle college coursework. This Freshman course focuses on advancing a student’s existing reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while finding advanced literary texts to further explore and refine the previously mentioned concepts. Once each semester, students will deeply engage with the research process in order to produce a strong research-based essay. On top of the goals from the regular English I class, honors students will engage in more essay writ-ing, some assignments involving public speaking and presentation, and this course will read an extra novel each semester.
