This class is an introductory class designed to help students develop basic skills for everyday living. They will gain knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors necessary to be successful in families, careers, and communities. Students will develop critical thinking skills while using nutrition information and learning ways to promote wellness. Students will also learn teamwork while developing cooking skills in a lab situation. Problem-solving and technical reading will be developed while working with computerized sewing technology to construct sewing projects. Throughout this course, students will work in a group setting and experience hands-on activities. This is a practical course for both males and females and is a pre-requisite for the upper-level Human Services/ Family and Consumer Science courses. This course will be offered second semester.
