English I, or Freshman English, strives to help students prepare themselves to succeed in future English Language Arts courses, or in their lives after graduation. This Freshman course focuses on the further study and development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while utilizing various grade-level appropriate texts to explore and refine these concepts. Some goals for the Freshman English class are to improve reading comprehension, analyze literature, and further their essay writing abilities. Once during the school year, students will deeply engage with the research process in order to produce a strong research-based essay.
