This course covers the major unifying themes of biology. Cell structure and function is covered in detail, including the biochemistry of cell processes. The mechanisms of cell division to sustain organisms and to pass heritable traits to offspring are learned, as are the basic laws of inheritance, genetics, and advanced genetic principles. The course also explores the concepts of natural selection, biodiversity and ecosystems.
