Honors English II focuses on advanced skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and researching. This course also includes an in-depth study of the various literary genres of world literature including the short story, biography, autobiography, Shakespearean drama, essays, poetry, and novels. Students will continue to study fictional elements, basic themes, and author styles with an emphasis on analysis and interpretation of literature. In addition, the course includes introductory ACT/SAT prep activities. Students considering this course must be self-motivated and willing to commit time and energy in order to gain the benefits of a more demanding course of study. Additional written and independent work will be required, as well as, a possible summer novel reading/writing assignment. Students must earn a C in Honors English II during first semester in order to continue in the class second semester.
