English III includes advanced work in reading, writing, listening, and researching. The basis of this class is a thorough review of American literature, its significant periods, and a novel study. Students will compose, revise and edit their own writing, using the 6+1 Writing Trait Model as a guide. Several smaller research projects are integrated within the literary and historical time periods. Students will continue to study fictional elements, basic themes, author styles, and the basic elements of analysis and interpretation of literature.
