Emotional Support for CMS Students

Unfortunately in the recent months there has been a shift in mental health for adults and children. Due to the rising pandemic, including the economic fallout more families and individuals are experiencing forced isolation, financial struggle and emotional stress. Because of these circumstances, positive mental health has decreased and more situations of anxiety, depression, suicide, substance abuse and self-harm in youths and adults are on the rise.

In order to stay aware, CMS students are asked to complete a Zones of Regulation survey every morning. The survey shows how they are feeling and communicates if they need emotional support/help that day, Below is a chart of how the colors match emotions as well as a link to the official site which can explain the concepts in more detail.. Students are asked to pick the color that corresponds with their mood that morning. Any student marking Yellow or Red are seen by me to ascertain their state of mind and self safety. Although we will be entering a Remote Mode of Learning Phase, please continue to have your student complete the survey daily so that I may contact them for check in if they need it. Any student who is in either the Yellow or Red Zones will be contacted by me and offered an individual Google Meet link for face-to-face meetings if they would like to process their emotions.

Your Circle Middle School family cares about you and wants to offer as much support as we can not only academically but mentally and emotionally as well. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns or needs you may have that would help provide support to your family during these trying times.
