CMS: Weekly Update February 18th - 24th

Weekly Update for February 18th - 24th.

I (Mrs.Young) apologize for not having an update for last week. I was in Grand Forks, North Dakota on a team for accreditation of the Grand Forks Public Schools. It was a wonderful experience and I sent as much cold weather your way as possible as they have plenty to share! I guess it worked as there was a snow day on Thursday. If you enjoyed the snow day, your welcome. If not- It wasn't me. 😊 I am glad to be back home and thawed out this weekend. (When I left Grand Forks it was -44 wind chill brrrr 🥶)

Now onto the good stuff: Wednesday is the rescheduled El Dorado basketball game. We will play at El Dorado Middle School starting at 5:00 for 7A /8B and 6:15 for 7B/8A.

THURSDAY IS SOUP NIGHT!!! If you can sign up to help PLEASE DO. We are very appreciative for those that are able to assist. All the proceeds go into the Outdoor Learning Facility fund, PLUS you get a warm and wonderful bowl of soup. It will be cold outside- SOUPS ON!! Here is the link for helping out. No competition here, only good soup. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d48a5a62fabf58-soup

Have you heard about Circle's Bond proposal? These are the areas identified by the Circle Districts Facilities Committee consisting of parents, patrons, educators and consultants: *Improvements for safety and security in all schools for students, teachers and staff; *Classroom additions to meet growth demands in the future *Additional classroom and support spaced for enhanced and efficient education and individualized learning; *Consolidation to increase efficiencies. Here is the link that will lead to more information: https://www.usd375.org/o/circle-pub…/…/bond-information-2020

Late Start this week will be continued focus on developing healthy relationships while being safe online. Developing these skills is a necessary part of today's world. You can't always trust what you see on line. Thank you to the Butler County CAC for partnering with us for these very important lessons. Rachel's Challenge's are embedded into these lessons with choosing positive influences. As these are put into practice, the benefit with making positive and healthy choices becomes habit.

As "Test Subjects" 8th grade will be having the first Flex Learning day. The goal is to bring in real world learning skills that focuses all the educational skills students have been working on for the majority of their education. Each Flex Learning option will have an Essential Learning component, an Essential Question and a way of assessing what the students are participating in. In time, the goal is to allow more personalized learning to take place during flex days that brings reading, writing, listening, speaking, problem solving and soft skills together. It is a journey, but one that we know will benefit your students as they move from middle to high school. Our process will feed into the THRIVE program found at CHS.
