Mrs. Hayes's Class:
Mrs. Sharla Hayes is beginning her 21st year of teaching. Wow!
She can’t believe that it’s been that long! Time flies when you are
working with children. She loves working with the kids, seeing them grow
and learn, overcoming difficult activities, and looking back to all of their
accomplishments at the year’s end. She is teaching her tenth year at first
grade. She has also taught Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 2nd
grade, and 6th grade. Mrs. Hayes loves to teach through song,
art, movement, and activity. The focus of the classroom is to learn, be in
good control so others can learn too, and to be as responsible and respectful as
we can be. There are high standards in her classroom, but those standards
are met through praise, hard work, and lots of laughter.
Mrs. Hayes has gone to a lot of school herself to become the best teacher that
she can be. Her undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education and is
from the University of Oklahoma (Go Sooners!). She received her master’s
degree in Early Childhood Education from Southern Nazarene University in
Bethany, Oklahoma. She has taught in Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Kansas.
She loves working with young children and feels that their excitement for
learning is contagious. They also help “keep you young”, which is always
important!
Mrs.
Hayes is also a proud parent of two of her own children. Her son, Kendall,
just turned 16 and is in tenth grade. He is presently obsessed with
football and all things “classic MUSTANG!” She is learning the difficulty
that comes with your children driving off on their own. Her daughter,
Makenna, is 11 and is in sixth grade. She is fascinated with make-up and
hair. She just KNOWS that a cosmetology career is for her! She plays
sports and enjoys performing in musicals.
J
Mr. Hayes is a meteorologist for the National Weather Service and loves to come
to the classroom to do his weather safety presentation. The family loves
to travel, learn about history, cheer for the O.U. Sooners, and have fun
with their golden retriever, Daisy Duke, and their schnauzer, Sweetie Pie.
It is a busy, yet happy, household!
