The Philosophy:

The philosophy of the Circle High School Library is to serve the information needs of the high school students and staff.

The Mission:

The mission of the Circle High School Library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information and to encourage leisure reading.  The library media program is integrated into the school’s curriculum and supports the educational goals and objectives of Circle High School.

The Collection:

  • Online databases
  • 10,500 books, audiovisuals, and vertical files
  • Hard copy magazines
  • 50 local and Kansas history vertical files
  • 500 Videos and DVDs
  • Picture files
  • Record albums, cd’s
  • ElDorado Times, Wichita Eagle, and Andover Advocate
  • Specialized Reference series

The Technology:

  • Atriuum Online Library Catalog
  • Interlibrary Loan through the Kansas Library Catalog
  • Electric Library
  • Internet
  • United Streaming Videos

Procedures:

Hours:
The library is open 30 minutes before and after school.  Special arrangements can be made for additional hours of operation.  Students may request additional time for help.

Circulation:

  • Books check out = 2 weeks
  • Vertical Files = 2 weeks
  • Magazines = overnight
  • Reference = non-circulating
  • Videos = teachers only or by special permission

Charges will be made on damaged or lost items:

  • Books—Replacement Cost
  • $5.00 fine on items not returned each semester or fines not paid each semester
  • Vertical Files---$10 or $25
  • Magazines Lost---$7
  • Magazines Overdue--$.50 per day per magazine
  • Videos---Replacement Cost
  • Bar Code Damage---$2
  • Damage to equipment—replacement or repair cost
