KSHSAA Basketball Brackets
*Students should be working on course selection for next year and should
enter course requests in PowerSchool before Spring Break. Turn
the colored enrollment forms in to the Guidance Office after you have
done this. See your counselor if you have questions.
**Circle
High School will host an
ACT test prep workshop on Wednesday, March 24th,
from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. The charge is $25 and includes a light supper.
The deadline to register is TOMORROW – Wednesday, March 10th.
Registration forms are available in the Guidance Office. This is
excellent preparation for the April ACT test!!
The newest edition of the school newspaper will be out today at lunch.
Come and get a copy!!!
*Everyone is invited to the Orpheum Theater in
Wichita this Friday, March 12th at 7 p.m. to see “Godspell”.
(It is written by the same person who wrote “Wicked”.) If a
large enough group RSVP’s, tickets will be FREE! See the FCA bulletin
board for details, and see Ashley Crisler to let her know you will be
attending.
Attention Juniors and Seniors – a representative from Wichita
Area Technical College will be here to visit with interested juniors and
seniors on Tuesday, March 23rd, during Seminar. On Thursday,
March 25th, the Wichita State rep will be here to see juniors
who will qualify for the DSI competition next fall.

Graduation orders are available in the office.
**Fort Hays State
University sponsors the “Nightengale Experience”
–a weekend workshop for sophomores and juniors which will be held on
March 10 and March 11, 2010. This program introduces
students to the nursing profession, as well as, the
nursing program at Fort Hays State.
See Mrs. Wheeler if you are interested.
The
Butler County Rural Electric Cooperative
invites high school juniors whose homes are serviced by Butler REC to
apply for one of two youth leadership summer camps. Both trips are all
expense-paid to either Washington, DC or Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
In addition, winners will receive a $300 college scholarship at the end
of their senior year. Deadline for submission is March 15, 2010. See Mrs. Wheeler for an application form.
Kansas Wesleyan
University, located in Salina, is sponsoring the Albert
Nelson Teacher Academy Day on Friday, March 12th, for
sophomore and junior students interested in a teaching career. See your
counselor if you are interested.
*Kohl’s “Kids Who Care” scholarship program
recognizes young volunteers whose efforts have made a positive impact on
their communities. The competition is open to students ages 6 – 18 who
have been involved in a community service project within the last year.
Local winners will receive a $50 Kohl’s Gift Card with regional and
national winners eligible for $1,000 to $10,000 in scholarship money.
Nominations will be accepted through March 15, 2010. See your
counselor for more information.
Are you a sophomore or junior interested in a
career as a teacher?
Emporia State University
is sponsoring the Kansas Future Teacher Academy in June.
This week-long summer camp will allow students to interact with ESU
instructors, Kansas Master Teachers, and Kansas Teachers of the Year.
Expenses will be paid for those who are selected to attend. See your
counselor if you are interested.
*Here is a college scholarship opportunity for
JUNIORS only: The Wichita Chapter of Executive Women International
sponsors a competition for local juniors. Circle may select one
application to submit for consideration. The local winner will be
awarded a $2,000 scholarship. See Mrs. Wheeler for the application
form.
The
Flint Hills Technical College
located in Emporia is hosting a Community Open House on
Saturday, March 27th, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The entire
campus will be open and program demonstrations will be going on
throughout the buildings. They offer a variety of programs including
automotive technology, construction technology, practical nursing, power
plant technology, welding, graphic arts, and more. See your counselor
for more details.
Pittsburg State University
is hosting Sophomore Success Day on Thursday, April 1st.
This event provides high school sophomores a sneak peak at Pitt State
and an opportunity to learn more about the college experience. Please
see Mrs. Wheeler for registration information.

What a great Saturday night for the T-Birds!!!
Both the Circle Girls and Boys basketball teams brought home the
Sub-State Championship trophies and therefore qualify for the 4A
State Basketball Tournament at the Bi-Centennial Center in Salina
this week, March 10th thru 13th.
The Lady T-Birds play their first game at 4:45
p.m. on Wednesday against Cheney.
The boys play their first game at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday against Pratt.
Admission prices for the tournament are $6.00 for Adults and $5.00 for
Students.
Circle will have a pep bus for Wednesday and again on Thursday.
We will use the following procedures for the pep bus:
-
Cost to ride the pep bus is $5.00 (which will
be used to buy your ticket for admission to the tournament)
-
Signups are in the office and you must pay your
$5.00 to Mrs. Killman in the office before you can sign up. The
deadline to sign up to ride the pep bus is the end of the day
TOMORROW – Tuesday, March 9th.

Students who ride the pep bus are required to
ride to Salina and back to CHS.
-
The pep bus will leave from in front of the
school.
-
Students will need to bring money for food.
-
We need at least 30 people to have the pep bus.
The pep bus will leave today at 2:30 p.m. (Students signed
up for the pep bus will be dismissed from class at approx. 2:15 p.m.)
The remainder of the CHS student body
will be dismissed from classes at approx. 2:30-2:35 p.m. to allow
students who wish to drive 2+ hours to get to Salina.
Students who need to stay here to ride the route busses home may gather
in the commons to wait until the route busses run at the regular 3:05
p.m. time. The pep bus for the boy’s game on Thursday will leave at
4:00 p.m. Come out and support the T-Birds!!!
Attention students who are going to attend the 4A
State Basketball Tournament: The student body will be graded and
critiqued on their Sportsmanship/Citizenship before, during and after
each game. Be proud, be loud but be positive. Therefore,
please be reminded that we need to support Rule 52 and all of its
contents. A highlighted copy of Rule 52 is located on the office
windows. Circle High School has won
sportsmanship awards at our last two trips to the 4A State Tournament.
We want to bring that award home again!!!
Important Rule 52 unacceptable behavior
points:
·Yelling,
waving, chanting, etc. while the opponent is shooting free throws
·Derogatory/disrespectful
yells, chants, songs or gestures
·Cannot
say such things as “you let the whole team down”, “air ball”, “you, you,
you”.
·Booing
or heckling an official’s decision
·Pointing
fingers, name calling, yelling player names or numbers
·Use
of profanity
If you have questions about what is acceptable,
please ask the administration.
BICENTENNIAL CENTER Rules:
-
No food or drink brought into the complex
-
Signs/Banners must be positive, supportive and
meet the sportsmanship philosophy.
-
All artificial noise makers are prohibited
-
Circle will be
assigned a designated seating area.
-
Spectators are not to stand on the chairs at
anytime.
-
All spectators will have their bags searched
by security. Arrive early; there may be some delays getting in.
